Pop was the most wonderful father-in-law I could have ever wished for. He was a tipical Dalmation man who worked his passage over from yhe old country (Jugoslavia)at the age of 10 years. He worked up North in the flax and gum fields.
Over time he lived and worked in many places within the North Island of New Zealand.
He eventually Settled in Hastings Hawkes Bay. Pop married and had 3 sons and 1 daughter. Neville was his youngest son. He had beautiful gardens, but my favoutite memory from when I fist met my father-in law was his grape vines. Pop loved his gardens but was so proud of his grapes which I am sure was because of the grape farm his family had back home.
He spent a lot of time and lived with Neville I and at the time his granddaughters Heather and Tracey. He got so much pleasure and so adored them. Apart from his family that he was so loved by and he loved so dearly, he was loved by everyone that knew him. What a wonderfull and proud time for Pop when we took him to Auckland to see his family from Jugoslavia. all he was of his family Kata Ivan and their children, I am sure it was a moving and emotional time for him.
Pop you were loved so much by Neville myself and your wee gandchildren Heather and Tracey. Till we meet again please stand by us and send love and hugs to your family who will always hold you close in their hearts. From Jeannette xoxo
